This property came with an excessive amount of bulbs on it. This is absolutely wonderful of course but they all need to be split up and some moved.  This was about 1/3 out of a square foot block of tulip (?) bulbs that I dug up out back on one of the nice warm days we have had. I don't often let my kids paint. I think that is rather sad because I LOVE it when they do it but I am rather fatiqued by cleaning the house and this just adds to it. We had a teacher work day so my husband went in but both my sons did not have school. We also had the babysittie over so needless to say we needed something unusual to keep everyone in a good place. They did enjoy themselves!

Kale. I think of it as the bacon of vegetables it is brimming with intensity.

This wonderful red Kale is from Lady Moon Farms in PA. 

I always love the stuff I get from them at my local co-op.

I have seen Gentlemen Prefer Blonds many times but still am a little shocked when I see this number. I get so excited to see something edible growing in my garden on the last day of December.....This small patch of swiss chard isn't really impressive...but it makes me giddy with the possibilities of an extended season!




I think this is a nandina? Maybe? I want to move it out of my garden plot as it is now right in a major section. Do you know what it is and the best way to relocate it?

In the next few days we will start putting away all our Christmas things. I don't feel sad about it but I know Hubby and kids do. I'm thinking ahead to next year starting and even to next Christmas. Christmas Eve a friend came over and her two kids took about 5 each off of the original white tree where they hatched. We had put it outside on the porch and I was amazed that they were still alive after being out in the cold...I wonder how they are doing?

I hate how everyone wishes everyone Happy Birthday on Facebook. It isn't like they remembered (in most cases), Facebook reminded them. I know it is silly to be annoyed at this...and I didn't sit around and mull about it until now. I'm really surprised that I still am getting food from my garden in mid/late October. Even after those frigid days. I'm pretty sure we had a few days of proper frost too. 




Fresh, homegrown food has such elegance....especially when it seems almost out of season!




The herb patch looks great and I picked this to take with us on a weekend away.

Chickens have so much personality and I love looking at the feathers and waddles.




These are the animals in the poultry exhibit at the Great Frederick Fair 2012. We went on Tuesday, and I guess the chickens had been in these cages for 2-3 days already. I kinda wish the poop had been cleaned out, you can see it piling at their feet.

There has been so much rain this fall. I can't tell you how many times I have had to give my two youngest baths, in the middle of the day, multiple times. Both of them got dirty, my son and daughter.

This really looks like potatoes, right? It also looks like an ad for Ireland, it isn't. They are mushrooms!




  The size seemed right. There were a good number of them strewn about like someone dropped their bag of potatoes from the store. What are these mimics doing next to the playground? Mushrooms are such odd and interesting things!

The price is very reasonable. It was only 10$ together for me and my 3 yr old. The baby was not charged for. It is easy to find and get too but you do have to pay a meter for parking unless you find something better.

The Season Pass that we buy for 10$ when we enter items into the fair has one per day on it. Sunday we were finishing our afternoon watching football at the in-laws and driving home and we thought the kids could use a fun run around time before bed. We got there at 5 and left at 6:30. We payed 5$ for parking again but otherwise paid nothing.

I might of went to the Great Frederick Fair once or twice growing up in this area but it was never really something we did. I made the kids some swings.  I was tired of the fighting so I made another one so they both had one and they still fought. So I made a two person one and they use it together.  The swing he is on in the video is the two person one, and it is even funnier when my eldest sits in the other seat bunched up beside him.

It was 8:30. Our three year old had taken a good nap that day so we were all out at dusk waiting to go ghost crab hunting. 




As the sun set we started our walk down to the shore.






A few of the cousins had head lamps. At one point we noticed that a red light helped us see them without scaring them.

The main ride of the park is the mini-train. It was really quite grand, but the seats were very low and I had to do a lot of bending up in 90-100 degree heat! The kids didn't mind so much luckily.






I think it is very fun that this park is city run and very reasonable. It cost about a dollar for each ride and we just bought a few tickets at a time. The winter squash I planted from seed did really well, surprisingly. Then the Sun and Stars Watermelon grew very expansively. Then at least three volunteer cantalopes grew from uncomposted seeds in the area I was preparing for new garden next year. So obviously I have no idea how large these plants get and will plan better next year!

Our first child was naturally cautious and had a short, self imposed, invisible leash. He took his time to venture farther then 5 feet away and always knew where I was. This is how I weaned my exclusively nursed babies from the pacifier by 5-6 months. I don't have experience convincing a child who is older or not nursed to give it up. With any child and situation remember, your offspring are individuals first.

Hubby already went the first week and braved the crowds. We went together a few weeks later after the hype wore off and it was less circus like. It is a perfectly fine store I'm just not personally excited about it.

Often my shortcomings at catching social cues makes me abandon attempts at building a friendship as futile. I'm sensitive to availability and competition.
